For the past couple of races, Danica Patrick has been filling in the role of NASCAR commentator. Patrick was part of a rotating line-up of commentators who joined Mike Joy and Clint Bowyer in the booth. She served a two-race commentary stint at Las Vegas and at the recently-concluded race at Phoenix.

Earlier, she talked about her experience in the booth in Vegas. The 39-year-old confessed that she felt very comfortable in the booth. She also knew that the bulk of the work came from full-time FOX broadcasters, Mike Joy and Clint Bowyer. However, that did not mean that her inputs were not valued in the booth.

She said, “I could literally not talk, and they would be able to fill all the time, so it gives me a little latitude to be able to interject when I feel something strong enough. On the other hand, they keep it going so well that I’m like, ‘I don’t know. Is my point important? Is it worth saying?’ Because they’re just really good.”

Will Danica Patrick be back in the booth in the future?

Honestly, it is difficult to say whether the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver will be back. There is a chance that Fox Sports rope in other former NASCAR drivers to fill in the third commentator role. Another option is for people like Tony Stewart and Mark Martin to return, or Patrick could return herself.

One thing is for sure, many people enjoyed her take on events in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the same could not be said when Danica Patrick was back again for the Phoenix race. This was largely down to her bringing up IndyCar comparisons a lot during the race. It even got to a stage where Clint Bowyer had to steer her away from the subject of IndyCar and focus on NASCAR.
