Tyler Reddick, renowned for his back-to-back victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2018 and 2019, has long been hailed as a formidable Cup contender. However, his recent performance stats tell a different tale. Since the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend, Reddick has struggled to finish better than 27th, causing him to plummet from seventh to 13th in the points standings.

Tyler Reddick’s frustration mounts as the playoffs draw near

Saturday marked a promising start for 23XI Racing, with Reddick securing a sixth-place qualifying position. This marks only the second time since the Coca-Cola 600 that he has started within the top 10.

Although Reddick triumphed at Circuit of The Americas in March, he has managed just four top-10 finishes in the 13 races since. In a short interview with Nathan Solomon, Reddick acknowledged the team’s potential to achieve top-five finishes but emphasized the need to address other crucial aspects.

He said, “We just got to clean up little details. It’s been our biggest fight all year long, as it seems like we are not making the same mistake twice, but certainly, we’ve had a lot of mistakes that just keep happening, and we’ve got to get that out of our systems.”

Following the qualifying session, Reddick even took to Twitter to share his mixed sentiments regarding the #45 car. Hence, his struggles in the races could also be attributed to adjusting to the new Toyota Camry.

As Reddick put it, “Well, today was a handful; our DraftKings Network Toyota Camry TRD was really sketchy to drive, but it’s got a good pace, and practice went alright. Except that the car is driving good, I just got to get comfortable with it. We had a really good qualifying outing. Ended up P6 for tomorrow’s race, which is a very good spot considering how I felt throughout the day.”
