Last week’s All-Star race at North Wilkesboro not only thrilled numerous fans with NASCAR’s long-awaited return to the track, but also sparked a wave of nostalgia, particularly among Kevin Harvick‘s supporters.

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver had been paired once again with his Cup Series debut car number for the race, a poignant nod to his past.

Yet, despite this homage to bygone days, Harvick’s race was far from serene.

What began as a nostalgic trip quickly disintegrated when an adjustment to his car derailed his performance. Clearly unhappy with the unfolding events, Harvick did not hold back his frustrations over the radio.

Kevin Harvick has a throwback race nightmare

As the race began, Harvick’s crew chief came on the radio and said, “I can’t even explain how good that thing looks out there.” Harvick then responded, “Ha. Yeah. It’s pretty awesome. Pretty awesome.”

Shortly after, everything started going haywire.

Harvick came back on the radio and said, “Holy Cr*p! This thing is terrible. You can’t even touch the **** gas pedal.”

Sometime later, after receiving the adjustment, he stated, “Made a wrong adjustment or something. This is **** ridiculous.”

Moreover, at one point, the radio had Harvick cussing something. When his crew chief asked, “What was that?” Harvick responded that it was “nothing” and that he was just “cussing.”

Harvick opted to race in the #29 car, a symbolic throwback to his NASCAR debut, a period steeped in the history of the sport. The #29 car marked Harvick’s courageous entry into NASCAR, stepping into the shoes of Dale Earnhardt following his tragic passing at the Daytona 500 in 2001.

As a greenhorn stepping into Earnhardt’s #3 team, which was renumbered to #29, Harvick quickly rose to the occasion by scoring his first-ever win at Atlanta, his third race in the series. This nostalgic number made its return at the All-Star race, underscoring Harvick’s illustrious journey.
