Can you imagine a NASCAR driver, especially from the modern era, being inducted into the Hall of Fame? Because this is exactly what spotters TJ Majors and Brett Griffin recently talk about, the driver being in this case, Denny Hamlin.

In the recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Majors and Griffin described why the Joe Gibbs Racing driver deserves a spot in the HoF.

“Denny’s resume, obviously doesn’t lack wins in all series,” Majors said. “I don’t remember if he’s run any mile-and-a-half, I don’t remember Denny doing big track stuff. Just short-track stuff and trucks. But his resume definitely doesn’t lack the wins.”

“It’s only lacking one thing, we all know what that is,” Majors added to which Griffin said, “A championship.” “That doesn’t really define whether we’ve got guys that are eligible for a Hall of Fame or in the Hall of Fame that haven’t won a championship,” Majors continued.

“But if you look at Denny’s stats and take the name off of it, to me, you’d think he won a championship.”

Denny Hamlin backtracks on his own comments regarding the Joey Logano incident

During the Coca-Cola 600, Denny Hamlin ended up clipping one of the tire changers of Joey Logano. This led to the Team Penske driver, for obvious reasons, calling out Hamlin for his “dirty move.”

Responding to the Team Penske driver’s accusation, Hamlin had initially taken no responsibility for what happened.

“When you choose to put yourself around cars that you think are going to go fast, you open yourself up to that stuff happening,” Hamlin had said“I’m sure he’s hit crew guys before. I don’t even want to swipe at a guy, but they swing so wide now to try to get into position that it’s a product of it.”

However, it seems now that the 23XI Racing co-owner has had some time to reflect, his opinion and understanding of his own actions have changed as he took full responsibility for what happened in Charlotte.

“I have since reviewed the video. I was wrong. Definitely my fault. I cut in 22 box way too far,” he wrote.
