Sure, Joey Logano has a history of doing things on the racetrack that has divided NASCAR fans. Some like him, some don’t. But it seems like now, the defending Cup champion might have united almost everyone against him with his recent opinion on the Daytona 500.

A few days ago, NASCAR fans supported Denny Hamlin for his take on the lack of practice in the Daytona 500 weekend. Hamlin had said, “We don’t have one lap of practice before we qualify for our biggest race of the year. Somebody had to explain that to me.”

“I mean, I can tell you this from the owner’s perspective, it was never brought up to us. Hey, we’re going to cut this you know.”

This opinion from the 23XI Racing co-owner had seen a flood of support from the fans, who all were in favor of practice sessions like before for the drivers.

But now, Logano has come out with something really opposite of that.

Joey Logano calls Daytona practice sessions “a snoozefest”

Speaking in a recent interview with SiriusXM, Logano shared his honest and candid thoughts on the idea of NASCAR not having any practice sessions before the Daytona 500.

“Let’s be honest, the practice they had before, qualifying…that’s a snoozefest, bro,” he said. The #22 driver then criticized the waiting, and what he thinks, the pointlessness of practicing for the race.

“You wait in line for Lord knows how long,” Logano claimed. “You make your two or three laps, wide open by yourself and it’s like, ‘Did you learn anything?'”

According to Logano, it’s the little things that one can learn from practicing before the Daytona 500, but as for “game-changing stuff“, it’s a no from him.

“Unless you’re out there drafting, practicing in the draft, that’s a little bit more fun. But then the crew chiefs don’t want to do that, they don’t want to risk their car. I’m with NASCAR on this one. To hell with it,” he continued.
