The 49-year-old Tony Stewart recently opened up on many subjects, including this weekend’s Indy 500 race, Roger Penske and his Stewart-Haas Racing team.

With the 2021 season approaching, all eyes are on the drivers market. Many current drivers are heading into free agency and the driver pool is constantly building.

For the current season, the Stewart-Haas Racing team fields Kevin Harvick, Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer, and Cole Custer. Meanwhile, the team has Chase Briscoe in their pen for the Xfinity series.

However, one has to wonder if the same four drivers will stay on in 2021. To that end, Tony Stewart insisted that no discussions about driver changes for the 2021 season have taken place.

First and foremost, Chase Briscoe has come a long way and showed tremendous progress this season. However, the Stewart-Haas team is trying not to jump the gun and make any hasty decisions.

What else did Tony Stewart say about the team?

Stewart said, “We’re still focused on the four guys we’ve got and giving them the best race cars we can give them. I’m comfortable where we’re at. I wish we could have five Cup teams because I would love to move Chase into one of our Cup teams.”

On the other end of the scale, even if Chase Briscoe does not earn a promotion to a Cup car, it isn’t such a bad thing. In fact, Tony Stewart believes that this only serves to give him an opportunity to gain more experience.

At 25-years-old, he is still a young driver and has plenty of time to accomplish his goals and dreams.

Meanwhile, there will be a lot of debate around Harvick, Almirola, Bowyer, and Custer. Kevin Harvick is the most in-form driver and the Cup Series favorite. Harvick has been so dominant and the Stewart-Haas Racing team will be eager to retain him.
