Given his previous records, it is obvious that most people have been theorizing his possible clean sweep at the championship title once again. However, his demotion back to the series would serve as a disappointment early on. At the end of the day, it was Tony Stewart who made the final call, after feuding with his own team’s co-owner. Fans called him the “stone-cold Custer” as he would be making his way back to the series in 2023. Despite the disappointment, Custer has the opportunity now to rejuvenate and reinvent himself from the ground up. He can push for wins instead of ending up being stuck in the middle of the pack. If he does end up winning the championship, it would also serve as a massive boost in his confidence, and he can use that to leverage himself out of SHR and onto somewhere else where he gets the respect he deserves in the first place.
