The taxing NASCAR calendar swamps drivers for two-thirds of the year, preparing for one race and then moving on to the next one. The off-season is the only time they get to hit the reset button. As the 2022-23 off-season commences, Denny Hamlin looks to be enjoying his time off.

Denny Hamlin has had a turbulent season to put it simply. He completed 18 seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing and was partnering with Kyle Busch for 15 years on the team. However, Busch was, unfortunately, let go after Mars & Wrigley did not renew his sponsorship.
Such a big change must’ve surely been unsettling for Hamlin. Moreover, he himself might be in the same position next year as his contract with JGR, and FedEx, his primary sponsor, enters its last year in 2023.

Other than that, he also had to face the massive disappointment that came because of Ross Chastain’s Hail Melon move at Martinsville. If not for that move, Hamlin could’ve found himself vying for his first Cup Series championship in Phoenix.
And finally, the season ended on a tragic note for the team as Coy Gibbs passed away in an untimely and unexpected manner the night before the last race in Phoenix. The season break could not have come sooner for Hamlin.
If the 2023 season is his last at JGR, he will hope that it’s the fairytale swansong. He deserves it.
