While the Cup and Xfinity Series teams are enjoying the mid-season break, the late-model stock car series, ARCA Menards, has been in full swing at the Berlin Raceway in Michigan. Much like their Sonoma adventure, the proud Toyota camp and Joe Gibbs Racing racked up another win as a 16-year-old sensation crossed the finish line in his #18 Toyota Camry.
With total domination from the Toyotas, the American manufacturers in the series are facing severe heat as the world’s largest automobile manufacturer is miles ahead of its American competitors—Chevrolet and Ford. Consistency has been a key factor that has attracted enthusiasts to the Japanese manufacturer and Toyota’s systematic approach and team dynamics make things smooth and resounding.
Despite its consistent efforts to strive ahead, the other two manufacturers seem to be falling behind considerably. While 16-year-old William Sawalich clinched the victory at the Berlin Raceway, winning his first ARCA Menards race, the community was quite vocal about the lack of competition in the series.

Following the race, avid racing fans slammed the lackluster lower-tier series for their non-competitive teams.
After the Sonoma road course, Toyota dominates at the Berlin Raceway securing the top 3 spots
The last few races in the NASCAR nation witnessed dominating performances by Toyotas. Martin Truex Jr racked up his 4th win at Sonoma, edging out Kyle Busch‘s #8 Chevrolet to the second spot in Cup Series while Ford dropped down to the third spot with Team Penske driver, Joey Logano.
The scene was almost similar in NASCAR’s lower tier of the feeder system, the ARCA Menards Series when the #18 Camry of William Sawalich passed his fellow Toyota driver, Jesse Love to snatch home a decisive victory at the last minute. While Sawalich’s wins at Michigan brought out the talent of the 16-year-old, fans were quite disappointed with the level of competition the stock model racing promotion has on offer.
Despite Frankie Muniz, the actor-turned race being a solid competitor in the scene, his recent admission about his funding issue had fans alarmed for the Ford driver. Muniz on the other hand finished 6th whereas Toyotas reigned the top 3 positions at the end of the race.
However, things weren’t smooth with the fans as they called out the evident lack of competition in the series, citing American manufacturer’s carelessness.

Lack of contest in ARCA; Fans dub the races “boring” despite teenager’s emphatic win
With just 2 laps to go at Herr 200, the JGR phenom put on a last-minute move off turn-4 to pass the then-leader Jesse Love to rack home an impressive win. As the Toyotas finished the checkered flag with a solid three of three top positions. Toyota’s racing campaign so far in America has been a bang for their buck.

On the other hand, fans weren’t much impressed with the 16-year-old’s win as the series has been steadily seeing a drop in contests. whether the presence of exceptional drivers or be manufacturer’s negligence, the fans are not having a bit of what is currently going on in the promotion as they publically called out the disparity, that too when ARCA Menards tweeted out the race finish.
An ardent racing fan noted, “I was getting a headache just watching an oval that small. Awesome finish but the odds of that were astronomical. Had Love not had a problem, it would have been 1,2,3 Toyota, everyone else 2 to 25 laps down.”
While another fan cited Toyota’s big investment in racing, “Toyota is pumping MILLIONS already into the series, Ford and Chevy do, but they spend less than half of Toyota. Toyota has VMS and Joe Gibbs and Ford as AM Racing and Rette Jones, Chevy has Pinnacle and Rev Racing.”
Whereas another fan vented out his obvious frustration with the series,
“I totally agree. The races used to be exciting but it’s boring when there’s only 2-3 good cars.”

“There’s no money in ARCA and until there is there prolly won’t be OEMs that care”
While another fan blasted the promotion with sharp words,
“Need to scrap the series replace it with the Asa national series or the Srl series put more eyes on the actual grassroots talent, it’s way better racing the Arca series is a snooze fest and only fields 10-12 cars”
