Andrew Bowman’s road from Sprint Cars to NASCAR has been quite a journey. He has worked hard to bag five World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car championships with Kasey Kahne Racing. But his achievements do not end there. Currently, he’s shifting gears to be a part of the 2024 NASCAR Truck Series and drive for TRICON Garage. And because he has worked relentlessly hard, Bowman seems to have a bone to pick with the work ethic of today’s younger generation.

Jeremy Elliott, the brains behind SprintcarUnlimited.com, recently tweeted about the growing challenge of finding dedicated crew members in Sprint Car racing. Bowman retweeted this, adding his two cents that the youngsters today are looking for the easy route.

Andrew Bowman opines that today’s generation is all about ease and comfort

Andrew Bowman has a clear take on the work ethic of today’s generation, especially in the realm of motorsports. He observes that many young drivers today seem to shy away from hard work. In his words, “Unfortunately, not only sprint car racing but anywhere in general, most kids these days don’t want to work period. But the kids that do want to do it think it’s a giant party on the road. It’s not. It’s a grind. It’s not easy. And they just end up quitting.” Coming from someone who’s climbed the ladder through sheer grit, these words carry significant weight.

Bowman’s own racing journey began in Elida, into a family immersed in Sprint Car racing. And because of that, his destiny in the sport was almost written in the stars. “I started when my dad took my brother and I to the shop where he was working on Sprint Cars since basically my brother and I were born. Going there and learning growing up…From there on, we just went to the shop every single night learning the ins and outs of Sprint Cars,” Bowman reminisced.

Eventually, he landed an opportunity to work with Justin Adams at Kasey Kahne Racing. There he joined Brad Sweet’s No. 49 team as a Tire Specialist in 2018. With KKR, Bowman contributed to 65 World of Outlaws Feature victories. Now, poised to embark on a new journey with TRICON, Bowman is driven by a desire to balance his racing career with family life. The shift to the NASCAR Truck Series offers him the chance to stay in racing while also spending more time at home. Yet, regardless of his NASCAR commitments, Bowman made it clear that he’ll always make time for his first love – Sprint car racing.

Andrew Bowman intends to remain a part of the Sprint Car family while racing in the NASCAR

Andrew Bowman is gearing up for a new chapter, but it’s not without a touch of nostalgia. His life has been deeply intertwined with the Sprint Car pit area, a place he’s called home nearly every weekend for years. He fondly recalls the family-like atmosphere of the Sprint Car scene, a sentiment he’s bound to miss.

While the roaring engines of Sprint Cars might not be at the center of his life like before, Bowman isn’t planning to cut ties completely. He’s determined to drop in on some Sprint Car races whenever he can snatch a moment. Bowman puts it simply yet earnestly. “Oh yeah, I’m going to try to get to some World of Outlaws events as time allows me.”
