During the Bank of America Roval Cup Series race at Charlotte, Chase Elliott dominated the proceedings. However, Ty Dillon ended the opening stage as the victor. He kicked off the race in 17th place, and had a decent run with his Stage 1 win. Ty Dillon scythed his way up the order and slotted into 5th place by Lap 11 when a competition caution flag was waved. He then took a massive gamble and pitted for slick tires and battled his way to the eventual race lead.

Admittedly, he had a bit of a headache when the caution flag came towards the end of Stage 1. Luckily, he was able to hold on to the lead until the stage concluded. He maintained a strong performance right up till the third and final stage.

Where did it go wrong for poor Ty Dillon?

Unfortunately, he got caught up in a small incident when a fellow competitor bumped into him. As a result, he spun and sustained damage to his car. Despite the setback, he soldiered on and even set the fastest lap of the race. From there, he see-sawed up and down the order.

Late in the race, he took a big gamble to pit, but narrowly missed out on entering before it closed. As a result, he got slapped with a penalty and went tumbling down the order for the final time. In the end, some fiercely determined driving meant that he stormed up to 23rd place where he ended up finishing.

Now, he will be keen to put his disappointing finish behind him and focus on the next three races. The big question is, can he put in similarly excellent performances in the remaining four races?
