Tyler Reddick winning the first Cup race of his career was a big deal to him, his fans, his team, and his family. But perhaps it wasn’t so for his own son, Beau Reddick.

Now, before the weather gets melodramatic, what’s to follow is not that serious.

This is because while Reddick was jubilantly talking about his maiden win, his young son was asleep.

“Either he cried himself to sleep because I beat his favorite driver Chase Elliott, or he’s just really tired,” the Richard Childress Racing driver hilariously described when asked about his son.

How Beau Reddick became a Chase Elliott fan and not of Tyler Reddick

For those who don’t know, Beau Reddick is a big fan of Chase Elliott. Or rather, he became one by accident.

Alexa De Leon, the wife of Tyler Reddick, had taught their son to look for his father’s No. 8 Camaro on television by reinforcing, “Oh, there’s Daddy’s car! That’s daddy’s car!”

“Beau started saying all the Cup cars are ‘Daddy’s cars’ — whether it was my car, Austin (Dillon’s) car. Those are ‘Daddy’s cars’ — the types of cars that Daddy drives,” Reddick explained.

And then it transitioned into little Beau developing a liking for the No. 9 Chevy in blue and white NAPA paint scheme. “He figured out the driver’s name is Chase and all this stuff,” Reddick said.

“So, he’ll say ‘Daddy Chase!’ He’ll point to a Cup car and try to say, ‘Daddy’s car, Chase.’ But it’s ‘Daddy Chase.’”

So it’s only natural that Beau Reddick fell asleep while his father, Tyler Reddick, fought hard for the win and took the checkered flag against his favorite driver, Chase Elliott.
