Michael Jordan’s presence is electric, and it was not unnoticed by anyone attending the race at the Talladega Superspeedway. Jordan was sitting atop the pit box, watching in excitement everything that was playing out in action. And his attendance seemed to be worth it as Tyler Reddick came through with an iconic win. But that’s not the only thing that truly stole the show!

Denny Hamlin talks about Beau Reddick’s unforgettable moment with MJ

It seems the line between professional and personal relationships seems to have blurred at 23XI Racing! And one glaring example of that was when Beau Reddick got to experience, as coined by Denny Hamlin, the “Lion king” moment after Sunday’s race. The NBA legend Michael Jordan carried him in his arms after his dad’s iconic win. Speaking about the heartwarming incident on the latest edition of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin shared how the little boy was just gifted the memory of a lifetime.

He said, “The goat’s holding him. He is holding him like lion king. It’s just awesome, and he is gonna have that moment forever, and it’s just I’m so happy uh for Tyler and Alexa and Beau their whole family, the whole Reddick family, Clarence his dad it’s uh yeah it’s great it’s great for them and great for that 45 team.”

Michael Jordan was all smiles and told Beau that his dad did a great job and if “we going to celebrate?” It was truly like watching a “core memory” being created at the moment for Junior Reddick. Evidently, Jordan’s presence impacts everyone present on this team, but according to Denny Hamlin, even the iconic MJ feels helpless many times.

Michael Jordan feels “helpless” in managing the team

Michael Jordan is an icon, a name that synonymous to NBA itself, and yet he feels helpless in managing the team. This is because, unlike basketball, everything is unpredictable in NASCAR, until the very end. Nothing can be pre-planned or strategized.

In the recent podcast, Denny Hamlin expressed how tough this experience is for MJ. The Cup series veteran said, “He’s the competitor. And, I appreciated what he said to Jamie Little there that starting this NASCAR team really, it filled the void of competitiveness that he had when he was playing, right? And so the only difference is he doesn’t control, he doesn’t have control. Now we do have control over how we choose to run the team and personnel that we hire and things like that, but it’s, you are a bit helpless when it comes down to a green-white-checkered or 30 laps to go or whatever!”

Hamlin further added in his podcast how hands-on Jordan is with his team and how much he truly cares. He said that having someone like that rooting for the team truly makes a difference. And Tyler Reddick’s win is a testament to that!

This race was a milestone moment in every sense for Tyler Reddick and the entire #45 team, and of course magical for young Beau, who experienced a truly unforgettable moment with the legend himself.
