VIDEO: Former Hendrick Motorsports Driver Escapes Serious Injury in a Scary World of Outlaws Crash

In mid-2018, poor old Kasey Kahne was forced to call time on his career due to health reasons. Close to three years later, the former Hendrick Motorsports driver is making a return to racing, with Kahne having a full-time gig in the World of Outlaws arena.

The bad news was that he nearly undid his recovery with a violent crash at the Volusia Speedway Park. At the event, Kahne qualified in 7th place, a decent start, considering he had been away for a long time. Sometime during the last chance showdown race, Kahne lost control of his car. To make matters more terrifying the former NASCAR Cup Series star endured a bad flip and crashed.

Unsurprisingly, the incident brought out the red flag, halting the race. The good news was that Kahne was able to walk away from the severe accident. Obviously, the fans were thrilled to see him up and about, and his Kasey Kahne Racing team was relieved.

What is the former Hendrick Motorsports driver up to?

Kahne, who had 18 race wins in the NASCAR Cup Series, had to retire prematurely, owing to health complications. Now that he seems to have recovered enough from all that plagued him in his career, he wanted to put himself back on the map. So, Kahne announced in December that he plans to go full-time in World of Outlaws racing for the 2022 season.

Coming to the actual race itself, while all that was going on, Spencer Bayston won the Last Chance Showdown. This enabled him to advance to the Main Event. Also joining him from the Last Chance Showdown were Logan Schuchart, Anthony Macri, and Jacob Allen. Meanwhile, David Gravel seized victory in Saturday night’s Feature event. He finished ahead of rivals, Brent Marks, James McFadden, Sheldon Haudenschild and Brad Sweet.
