VIDEO: NASCAR Driver Santino Ferrucci Walks Away With a Concussion After Massive Airborne Crash at Chili Bowl

Santino Ferrucci, the part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, and part-time IndyCar driver, recently suffered a massive crash at the Chili Bowl Nationals. Ferrucci, who was racing hard, catapulted into the fence as his midget tumbled and flipped several times.

The 23-year-old had made contact on his left front with the right rear of the driver in front. Within seconds, Ferrucci’s No.16 ended up in a hard crash.

After this incident, Ferrucci was brought to a local hospital and diagnosed. And according to Toby Christie, the driver from Woodbury suffered only a concussion, something his fans would be glad to hear about, considering the severity of the crash.

However, this concussion has effectively ruled him out for the rest of the weekend.

What did Santino Ferrucci say after his massive crash?

A few hours after his crash, Ferrucci posted an update for his fans regarding the crash. He wrote, “Only a minor concussion, very happy with the safety of our @webcotube cars. I’m really bummed because Dave and @Cannon_mac08 have been working with me so much this past season and we knew we could run good. I can’t thank them enough & I’ll be back in these midgets soon again.”

Ferrucci, who is still without a full-time drive in either of the two series he competes in, expressed his hopes to get one soon. He also mentioned that even after getting a full-time drive, he wants to keep competing in both series.

That is to say, if he got an Xfinity Series drive, he still wants to be able to run the Indy500 and vice versa.

“I want to be racing and I want to be in a full-time effort with the opportunity to put up consistent results,” Ferrucci said in an interview with AP last year.

“Wherever that takes me, I still want to be able to race in both NASCAR and IndyCar.”
