NASCAR has gone all out for its historic Chicago street run. Deemed controversial by many, the street of Chicago will be home to NASCAR’s Cup Series Grant Park 220 and Xfinity Series The Loop 121 races for two days straight. Michigan Avenue, Lake Shore Drive, and South Columbus Avenue are a few of downtown Chicago’s streets that have been cordoned off from the public. Keeping public and driver safety in mind, catch fences and specialized barriers have been strategically placed all throughout the street circuit.

Is NASCAR hiring buses for the Chicago Races?

Chicago has a rich culture in visual arts, literature, film, theater, improv comedy, food, dance, and music. Engulfed in skyscrapers, the city is also the international hub for finance, commerce, industry, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. Home to the famed deep-dish pizza, Chicago is also famous for its city-wide bus tours. Visitors can hitch a 24 or 48-hour hop-on-hop-off ride on the city’s abundant fleet of iconic open-top double-decker buses. Taking passengers through the iconic landmarks of the city, the double-decker buses run from Magnificent Mile to Museum Campus, and Millennium Park to Michigan Avenue Bridge.

Switching out its traditional oval for the rough and bumpy city streets of Chicago in its maiden street run, NASCAR has even chartered a few of the city’s double-decker buses. What business do the sight-seeing buses have at NASCAR’s 100mph breaching track you may ask? According to Bob Pockrass’s recent tweet, the towering double-decker buses will serve as the spotter stands at Turn 4.  Tweeting a picture of a couple of buses parked beside the catch fence at Turn 4, Pockrass wrote, “The buses that will serve as the Turn 4 spotter stand.”
