The 2021 NASCAR season is finally here, and the Xfinity Series race has already wrapped up. Reigning champion Austin Cindric staved off a massive dogfight to win the Xfinity race at Daytona. On the final restart, he led from Harrison Burton, AJ Allmendinger, and Brett Moffit.

Cindric, in the #22 Xfinity Series car, managed to get a good start and pulled away from the pack. So, while Cindric tried to escape, Burton, Allmendinger, Moffitt, Myatt Snider, and Jeb Burton tried to chase him down.

Finally, the white flag waved and nobody had made any inroads on the race leader. Then, on the final lap, Harrison Burton and Brett Moffitt began to creep up on the leader. Burton tried to shimmy down the inside, but Cindric was able to cut him off easily. The foiled attack unsettled the driver and Moffitt pounced, snatching second place.

Then, Moffitt in the #08 car tried to close up, but it was far too late for him and the reigning champion won. It is worth mentioning that Cindric started the race from the pole, and the pole man has rarely won. Admittedly, even though Cindric won, Harrison Burton led the most laps.

Speaking after the race, he declared that the team put in an ‘unbelievable effort’. Cindric said, “Coming off a lot of momentum with the championship last year, but nothing’s guaranteed. We need to keep working hard, and now we will try to do it again tomorrow.”

He also appreciated the fact that there were fans present to watch him win the race, which has turned out to be a feat drivers rarely get to enjoy now.

Considering that he will run in the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Austin Cindric is understandably excited. He is all geared up to compete in the ‘Great American Race’ and go toe-to-toe with some of the best NASCAR Cup Series drivers on the grid.
