WATCH: Bubba Wallace Talks About the Positive Impact of NASCAR’s Flag Ban

This Friday, Bubba Wallace spoke with CNN’s Don Lemon Friday about the positive impact of NASCAR’s decision to ban the confederate flag.

Bubba is the only full-time African American driver in NASCAR Cup Series. And he has been the NASCAR’s flag bearer in the ongoing protests against racial discrimination. Mass protesters are taking place across the US and around the world against racial discrimination. The protests broke out after the death of George Floyd in an incident of police brutality in Minneapolis.

In the interview, Wallace revealed that he has received both positive and negative comments after his open stand against the discrimination. He said, “I was proud of the efforts by NASCAR, so hats off to them”

Bubba said that the positive support is overwhelming. He said, “there’s obviously been more good than there is bad.”

Many people from inside the sport and public have lauded Bubba for his efforts. He said, “You’re getting both sides, a lot of positive outreach and gaining new fans as we go”

After that, he revealed that many fans are turning to NASCAR because of the decision. And he is excited for fans to return to the sport to see the change in the demographics of the audience. He said, “Then you got your fans who will never watch NASCAR again, the same fans who will never watch the NFL after the kneeling, the same fans that were crying out that we’re ruining their lives and just throwing a pity party.”

NASCAR’s decision came after Bubba Wallace call’s to ban the Confederate flag on national television. NASCAR is putting a strong message against racial discrimination and many drivers including Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, and Chase Elliott have come out to support the protests.
