Chase Elliott won the NASCAR All-Star Race before the biggest crowd ever since the onset of the Coronavirus lockdown. The Bristol Motor Speedway hosted the race with 30000 fans who were permitted to watch the race while strictly adhering to the social distancing norms.

The No. 9 driver won his first All-Star Race in the wake of holding off Kyle Busch. Kyle completed it in second place. Elliott led the field in 60 of the 140 laps. Above all, he brought home the $1 million cheque.

As per NASCAR, Chase said, “Oh my gosh, there’s no feeling like it, nothing like it. Bristol is an electric atmosphere, unlike any place we go to. We’re going to celebrate this one for sure.”

He added, “There’s nothing like Bristol. Nothing like the lights here. There’s nothing like racing here. I’ve never won here — what a race to do it. Just really proud of our team tonight and rebounding. … All those No. 9 hats and T-shirts up in the stands — love to see it.”

Special Win for the Elliott family at the NASCAR All-Star Race

It was Elliott’s first win at the Tennessee speedway. Elliot alongside his father, Bill Elliott, became the second father-son pair to win the All-Star Race, following Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

There is a coincidence attached to this win. Strangely, Bill won the race when it was held in Atlanta and Chase’s triumph was in Bristol, Tennessee. Both these races marked the only times that the event was hosted at a track other than the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Aric Almirola won the stage 1, William Byron won the stage 2 and Matt DiBenedetto won the open race. Clint Bowyer earned a place by winning the Fan Vote.

The All-Star Race is notable for the developments it brings each year. This year the vehicles sported lights that gave an underglow, as per NASCAR’s instructions.
