Earlier this year, Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott cemented his status as a road course expert. One of his wins came at the Road America track and the fans loved it. In celebration, the #9 driver performed a burnout on the track. However, that did little to satisfy the crowd, and they demanded a second one.

Of course, Elliott just could not deny them and he obliged. Unfortunately, he would later regret giving in to their demands, as there was nothing left of his tires when he finished. Speaking around that time, he said, “I haven’t spent any time in Wisconsin, so I’m not sure why they were so loud. It was super cool. Man, they were fired up. The amount of peer pressure I felt to do a burnout was, like, wow. I don’t know that I’ve ever had that much peer pressure in my life to do a burnout.”

The worst part was that he needed to go around the rest of the lap before heading to Victory Lane. With two tires that were literal carcasses, he struggled to get back and had to be pushed back to the front stretch. When he reached the area for the post-race interview, everyone was begging him for burnout.

Chase Elliott apologised for being late

Obviously, the post-race antics delayed him and he apologized. However, he was far from sorry for reveling in his 13th Cup Series victory. It is worth mentioning that this was the first Cup Series race at Road America since 1956. So it was pretty special for Chase Elliott to establish his road course dominance on new soil.

Now, the driver will be looking forward to the 2022 Cup Series season and a chance to win back the title. He made it into the Championship 4 last year, but lost the title to his teammate Kyle Larson. Without a doubt, Elliott will want to redeem himself and earn more non-road course wins.
