During the practice session at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, there was a moment for Floyd Mayweather’s The Money Team Racing. Sometime in the session, the hood of Kaz Grala’s #50 car inexplicably popped open. It then proceeded to slam onto the windshield and obscured the NASCAR driver’s vision.

Naturally, the driver slowed down and moved off the racing line. It was pretty impressive that he was still able to get the car back to pit road and get the issue fixed.

In the end, he could only manage to qualify in 34th place. What makes matters worse for him was the fact that his car failed post-qualifying inspection. As a result, he lost his engineer Tim Norman for this race weekend.

As it happened, Justin Haley also failed his inspection, so he also had a crew chief ejected from the race. It was a bit of a blow, as he is starting in 20th place for the Coca-Cola 600. Obviously, a driver of Haley’s caliber will be eager to make a move up the order and deliver a good result for Kaulig Racing.

While all that is going on, Denny Hamlin stuck his car on pole position as the Toyotas ran riot. Alongside him on the front row is 23XI Racing driver Kurt Busch. Meanwhile, Christopher Bell and Kyle Busch lock out the second row in 3rd and 4th, respectively. William Byron was the top Chevrolet, ahead of Austin Cindric in the leading Ford.
