Hendrick Motorsports add to their list of the most successful team in NASCAR Cup history in terms of wins this weekend. Youngster William Byron, who drives the No.24 formerly driven by the Hendrick legend, Jeff Gordon, took the checkered flag amidst a chaotic end in Atlanta.

This was the third win of the season for Rick Hendrick’s team, who are once again showing all the signs of having a successful campaign as a team, in a season in which other teams are struggling for consistency and traction.

Naturally, it shows.

In a video from the victory lane after the race in Atlanta, Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick can be seen celebrating together, having a beautiful moment as a team, showcasing their chemistry, the culture in their team, and the overall state of mind at HMS.

Hendrick Motorsports since Jeff Gordon stepped up as VP

Since Jeff Gordon’s promotion to the role of Vice President in June of last year, Hendrick Motorsports drivers have won a total of 12 races. They won 9 races last season and three so far already.

Unsurprisingly, this is the most wins for any team in that time period.

When Gordon was announced as the VP, he said, “I’ve never lost my passion for the organization, for our sport, and for the sheer challenge of racing and winning at the highest level. Being part of the competition is where I’m happiest and feel I can make the biggest contribution to the continued, long-term success of the team.”

While Rick Hendrick described Gordon as the “only person” he knows who hates to lose as much as he does. “In the years to come, I couldn’t be more energized about working arm-in-arm with him and cementing the future of Hendrick Motorsports together,” he added.
