Jimmie Johnson drove an impressive race at the Dover International Speedway on Saturday. However, he had a number of ‘heart in the mouth’ moments as well. Johnson had a funny response to this one particular incident involving Ryan Preece and himself.

Jimmie Johnson was approaching fast, and he caught Preece off-guard. Johnson moved just in time to avoid a collision. It could have resulted in a heavy crash considering the speed at which Johnson was approaching.

Jimmie Johnson has been one of the most successful drivers at the Dover International Speedway over the years. To go along with that, his time at Dover has always been action-packed for a number of reasons.

Past incidents at Dover for Jimmie Johnson

Back in the Dover 400 race in 2006, Johnson was forced to make another save as he did on Saturday. During the qualifying session, Johnson lost control of his car as he came around the final corner, and suffered a spin. The No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports car spun 360 degrees twice but did not hit the inside wall.

More recently, Johnson led an 18-car crash during the Dover race in 2016 after his car failed to accelerate on the restart, with 40 laps to go. He finished in 25th place on that day.
