Last week’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen was filled with chaotic moments from the beginning to the end. We saw Ross Chastain live up to his name once more and create a chaotic moment that not only ended Kimi Raikkonen’s race but also spun out the #3 car of Austin Dillon.

NASCAR finally released the radioactive video of Watkins Glen on YouTube. In the video, we hear the RCR boss speak right after the contact with the watermelon man.

He asks, “The ******* #1 get us?” Right after that, Richard Childress Racing’s crew chief, Justin Alexander, responds, stating, “I mean, you don’t even have to guess anymore.”

Due to the ongoing confusion caused by the watermelon man, Raikkonen ended up in the wall, trying to avoid the incident. Kimi’s crew chief, Darian Grubb, asked, “you alright?” A dejected Kimi responded in affirmation. He then told, “there was nothing that I could do.”

The race was finally won by Kyle Larson, who supposedly run Chase Elliott wide into turn one while pushing for the lead.

Kimi Raikkonen stated that his experience at Watkins Glen was good fun

Unfortunately, the Iceman’s NASCAR Cup Series outing ended earlier than anticipated after Ross Chastain managed to ruin Austin Dillon’s race, which left Kimi with nowhere else to go.

Even though Raikkonen was not able to finish his debut Cup Series race, he seemed to be relatively happy with the opportunity. After emerging from the care center, he was interviewed by NBC.

The Iceman said, “I had a good line there, unfortunately, I had no time to react. The first impact, somebody hit the tire or the wheels directly and the wheels spun.”

When asked if he enjoyed his time in the NASCAR cup series, he said, “It was good fun. I felt more confidence all the time and had some good battles. The car felt like it had a lot of speed in there, but that’s how it goes sometimes.”

Kimi’s NASCAR outing was no slouch. The 42-year-old Finn proved that he still had that racing prowess. At one moment, he managed to get up into the top 10s. This is something incredible to see considering Raikkonen comes from an open-wheel background and other drivers around him have far more experience with stock cars.
