The race weekend at the Sonoma Raceway kicked off in a fiery fashion, no pun intended. The NASCAR Truck Series race concluded with Kyle Busch winning and keeping his truck streak alive. However, there were lots of other stories that occurred during the race. One of them was a massive wreck involving Stewart Friesen and Josh Bilicki.

It all started when Friesen spun Bilicki and both of them hit the wall hard. For Friesen, he came off worse because his car was on fire. Fortunately, there were no other cars directly involved, though a couple of drivers sustained minor damage.

Fortunately, both drivers were able to walk away unscathed, especially Friesen. Though it is worth mentioning that the sheet of flame was very brief, and quickly disappeared, so the danger was not so great. Other drivers who were caught up in the wreck include Lawless Alan and Alex Bowman, and their races were compromised. In the end, both Friesen and Bilicki were classified in 30th and 31st, and out of the race.

While all that was going on, Kyle Busch stormed to victory for the first time in the Truck Series. In the process, he has notched up 10 consecutive years with a Truck Series win. It would have been a lot more, had his streak not been interrupted in 2012. That being said, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver will now be focusing on the Cup race on Sunday.

Admittedly, he had a bit of a task ahead of him, starting all the way down in 12th place. Fortunately, he isn’t too far down the order, so Busch should be able to claw his way up the pack. However, whether he will win the race or not is a different question altogether.
