Kyle Busch had a fairly bad start to his home race weekend. In practice, he crashed out and was unable to take part in qualifying. As a result, he started the race from the back of the grid and try to fight his way up. To be honest, he was making good progress, but there were a few hiccups along the way.

Sometime during the race, Erik Jones crashed into the wall and ended his race. Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace gave his guardian angel a heck of a workout, with a couple of near-misses. Obviously, this series of unfortunate events brought out a caution flag. Unfortunately for Kyle Busch, it also halted his charge up the order. In fact, cameras spotted his wife Samantha shouting, ‘No! No! Get off the track!’

Eventually, Jones and Wallace cleared off from the track, but the damage was done. Whatever momentum Kyle Busch had, was halted and he had to regroup. Eventually, he finished the race in 4th place, as the best of the Toyotas. However, he was understandably gutted to lose out on winning in front of his home crowd.

What happened to Kyle Busch after the caution?

In the end, Busch was left vulnerable to a Hendrick Motorsports onslaught, as all four drivers took two fresh tires. Bowman and Kyle Larson managed to overtake him, along with Ross Chastain. Even though Kyle had four fresh tires, he was helpless against the Chevrolets. After the race, the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing driver launched into an expletive-laden rant against Alex Bowman, expressing his frustration.

All that he could do was try to make the most of his position in the race. On the bright side, Busch is currently 5th in the championship and has plenty of time to move up the order. He will also be aiming to bag his first win of the season and set his championship challenge rolling.
