Chase Elliott is on his path to becoming not only one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR but also one of the most well-known faces of the sport. Since taking on the throne of NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver quite early in his career, the achievements in his resume and his popularity have only gotten better, gone higher.

Naturally, his power and influence have also increased as a result.

This brings to mind a proverb said by an old man written by another old man, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Fortunately for him, his friend and fellow driver, Bubba Wallace, had already given him a heads-up on the same.

“I told him, ‘Hey man, you have a voice, you have a platform,'” Wallace revealed in an interview a couple of years ago. “And he was like, ‘Yeah, but is it really gonna do anything?’ … I said, ‘Chase, you have one person that’s following you that looks up to you who will do everything you say, whatever it is. You say the sky is green, then they’re gonna be like ‘the sky is green, God almighty Chase said that.'”

“If you go on there and share your opinion and share your thoughts and what you feel in your heart, then you’ve changed that one person’s mindset.”

Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott are having very different seasons in 2022

Both Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott are having almost polar opposite seasons to each other in 2022.

While the 23XI Racing driver got off to a promising start with a P2 finish at Daytona 500, nearly nailing the win, his season from that point on has been nothing but a nightmare that has progressively gotten worse.

Be it pit road issues, wrong calls from the crew chief, or poor display of driving from Wallace himself, this season has been less than ideal for him.

On the other hand, Chase Elliott has slowly emerged as the favorite to win the championship, at least if judged on the basis of consistency in finishes, as well as the cohesiveness he has with his crew and his team.

He’s currently sitting on top of the points list in the regular season. He has won three races, and has three finishes inside the top five and seven inside the top ten.

So it won’t be unfair to conclude that the way things are going for the man from Dawsonville, he could very well be lifting his second Cup trophy in Phoenix.
