WATCH: When Clint Bowyer ‘Poked’ Ryan Newman in the Nose During the NASCAR All-Star Race

During the 2019 NASCAR All-Star race, there was an incident involving Ryan Newman and Clint Bowyer. Evidently, it seemed like Newman was the primary culprit because Bowyer was fuming. On the cooldown lap, Newman appeared to nearly spin Bowyer, and the #14 driver lost control and hit the wall. Many guessed that it was retaliation for an earlier incident during the race, which was Bowyer’s fault.

The Stewart-Haas driver didn’t see it that way and made his displeasure known. When both drivers had parked up on pit road, Bowyer wasted no time in getting out of his car. He then proceeded to storm up to the #6 driver and punch him repeatedly through his car’s side-netting. Bowyer said afterward, “After the race, he comes and runs into my back and turns me all around, and I pull up next to him, and he dumps me into (Turn) 4. Where I come from, you get poked in the nose for that. What he got.”

How did Clint Bowyer and Ryan Newman finish the 2019 season?

Overall, the two drivers enjoyed a fairly decent 2019 Cup Series campaign. Both of them were in the Playoffs, with consistent runs, despite no wins that year. At the end of the All-Star Race, though, Newman would only go on to finish 14th, while Bowyer was a little higher up in 12th place. Apparently, on the final lap of the race, Bowyer suddenly cut off Ryan Newman. This action from the Stewart-Haas driver nearly wrecked both of them out of the race.

That was what prompted the #6 driver to retaliate on the cooldown lap and his opponent to punch him repeatedly. Of course, NASCAR did not appreciate the scuffle and summoned them both to explain themselves. In the end, nothing really came of it, and both drivers got away with just a slap on the wrist.
