However, The Watkins Glen International President, Michael Printup, is confident that the track will return sometime soon.

He said, “Absolutely, no question about it. … This place is pretty passionate and they’re(The Frances are) pretty passionate about this place. We’re waiting for the schedule to come out in the next few weeks.”

He also revealed that the local government granted permission to race behind closed doors. Unfortunately, that answer came too late for NASCAR, so they elected to move to Daytona instead.

This is largely because NASCAR wanted to confirm its schedule as soon as possible.

When will NASCAR return to The Glen?

Apparently, this is the first time that the sport is not visiting The Glen since 1985. Naturally, a number of drivers are sorely disappointed at their inability to race at the well-known venue.

He even went as far as to say that the fan atmosphere is the best part of the circuit.

Another enjoyable feature of the circuit is the fact that it is a high-speed track with a number of elevations. Obviously, this is a challenge that a large majority of drivers relish.

Even the likes of Tyler Reddick and Ross Chastain admitted that they enjoyed racing at The Glen.

Chastain even told Star-Gazette, “I love racing at Watkins Glen and I will really miss it this year. The backstretch chicane is one of the most fun sections of track I’ve raced on, at any track, anywhere.”
