Danica Patrick can’t believe this vegetable is on the worst vegetables to eat list

Dr. Saladino is a Nutrition Specialist. Famous on Instagram by the name @carnivoremd_2.0, he shares posts and information about evolutionary consistent lifestyle. As the name suggests, he encourages an animal-based diet to live a healthy lifestyle.

During the podcast, Dr. Saladino stated that while talking about nutrients, all discussions should actually be framed in terms of bio-availability. By this, he meant that one should be aware of how much nutrients can be derived from a plant.

To explain his take on spinach, Dr. Saladino asked Danica Patrick why she eats the vegetable. Elaborating the question, he asked her if she eats spinach for a particular mineral or vitamin. To this, Patrick replied, I am eating it because I do think that there are some nutrients to it. But I also think that there’s fiber in it.”

But as Dr. Saladino continued his explanation. He said, “No actually it’s (spinach) really high in oxalate. Most kidney stones in the world, I think 80% are calcium oxalate kidney stones.”

“Where do we get oxalate? We get oxalate from things like almonds, spinach, rhubarb, beets, beet greens … and chocolate also is pretty high in oxalate.”
