This weekend, the NASCAR paddock heads to Las Vegas for the next round of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship. As always, a few eyes will be glued to the heavens and the weather radars. Mostly due to the fact that there have been a few rain interruptions this season. However, the good news is that the Las Vegas Cup race will largely remain dry for the weekend, as per reports.

As it turns out, the temperature will likely stay in the range of 46-48°C on Sunday, and the race should not receive any rude weather interruptions. Of course, geographically speaking, Florida is located on the coast, while Vegas is located inwards and not as badly affected by rain.

What to expect from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race in Las Vegas?

Kevin Harvick will start on pole position for Sunday’s race, ahead of William Byron. The Stewart-Haas driver currently lies second in the championship with 20 points separating him and Denny Hamlin. Speaking of Hamlin, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver will find himself on the third row in sixth place.

Of course, just because Harvick is on pole for the Cup Series race, it does not mean that a win is guaranteed. Stranger things have happened in the Cup Series. However, it is also worth mentioning that Harvick already has two wins at the track, in 2015 and in 2018. On the other end of the scale, Joey Logano has taken consecutive wins at the Pennzoil 400 in 2019 and 2020.

Of course, it could be difficult from 15th on the grid, but he should be fine, as long as he stays out of trouble.

So, the question is, can Logano make it a hat-trick of Cup Series wins at Las Vegas? Or will someone else try and spoil the party? And can Kevin Harvick be the first pole-sitter to win the race?
