“We’ll Be Eliminated Next Round” – Kyle Busch Makes Big Claim Despite Bristol Result

Kyle Busch registered his best finish in the last 12 races in the NASCAR Cup Series. His second-place finish at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday was the first one since the All-Star Race, at the same venue. However, Busch was frustrated, to say the least, after Saturday’s race.
So much, that the reigning champion dismissed his own chances of making the Round of 8, even before the Round of 12 actually begins.
“We’ll be eliminated next round. So, don’t care,” Busch said in his post-race media interaction when asked of his road ahead in the next round of the playoffs.

“Nothing like a Gase and a Smithley” – Kyle Busch
Busch’s displeasure was clearly visible as he even strongly criticized the lapped cars that obstructed him during the race. He specifically mentioned Joey Gase and Garrett Smithley.
“If that lapped car wasn’t there, I would’ve blown it in on the outside or the inside. And maybe we (him and Joey Logano) would’ve banged each other’s doors and had a better finish to the chequered,” Busch said.
“But some of them dip**** kids don’t know what they’re doing or where they’re at and can’t stay out of the way. So, nothing like a Gase and a Smithley,” he added.
Busch also went on to call Joey Logano “nobody’s friend for a reason”.
Even when I don’t do anything @KyleBusch blames me. Went outta my way to give him room tonight. Think he might have thought I was in a different car. 🤷🏼♂️

Still winless in 2020, Busch would have expected to finally bag his first win of the season at Bristol. Mainly because of his past record there. He now has four runner-up finishes at Bristol, to go along with eight wins.
Busch was involved in an interesting battle for the lead with race-winner Kevin Harvick, for the better part of the last 40 laps. The two drivers exchanged the lead with each other before Harvick finally held on for the win.
