Earlier, there were a couple of massive bombshells in the F1 world. First and foremost, Sebastian Vettel made his official social media debut with Instagram. A few hours later, the second bombshell was that he was announcing his retirement at the end of the 2022 season. Naturally, this whipped up the F1 and motorsport community into a wailing frenzy.

However, there were always going to be a few people who still think that he is not done with racing. With Trackhouse Racing’s ambitious Project 91 debuting this year and taking off in 2023, will Vettel be a candidate? At the moment, the Aston Martin driver is focused on finishing out the 2022 season. Then he will spend some time with his wife and three children. Admittedly, he isn’t the first F1 driver to consider NASCAR as a serious option.
Will Sebastian Vettel ever return to racing again?
Admittedly, it is hard to say whether he will walk away for good, or if the call of adrenaline is too strong. His former teammate and friend, Kimi Raikkonen, has enjoyed a few months of peace. However, the Finnish driver is expected to get back behind the wheel for the NASCAR Cup race at Watkins Glen International. The 2007 F1 world champion is the first driver to participate in Trackhouse Racing’s ambitious Project 91 plan.

Of course, before Raikkonen, Vettel’s former rival Daniil Kvyat is making his NASCAR debut this weekend. Kvyat is expected to race for Team Hezeberg at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Without a doubt, he will be eagerly waiting for his debut NASCAR Cup race. Now the big question is, will this be the last time that Sebastian Vettel steps into a race car?

Or will he be tempted by the call of NASCAR or another series like IndyCar, Formula E, or even Extreme E? One thing is for sure, the four-time Formula One world champion is determined to finish his F1 career. Once that chapter of his life is over, he will spend as much time with his family as possible.
