According to some calculations, Byron could potentially start one place ahead of Jimmie Johnson. In other words, he has a bit of an advantage over the 7-time NASCAR Cup Series winner.

However, the race is long, and anything can happen in the three stages of the race.

Crunch time for Jimmie Johnson

In the buildup to this weekend’s race, Jimmie Johnson knows that he has to pull out all the stops. This is because the #48 driver is set to step down from full-time racing at the end of the current season. He would certainly hate to bow out this early and make a last-ditch effort to prolong his career.

The 44-year-old is eager to prove that he is still hungry for victory. All this is in spite of his up and down season. However, William Byron is no pushover and he will be keen to prove his mettle.

His highest finish is 4th place in Sunday’s race at the Dover International Speedway. Aside from that, he has been a frequent Top-10 contender, so he will not go down without a fight. With Byron predicted to start ahead of Johnson, sparks will certainly fly on the track.
