“I honestly think the butterflies and the stress are worse…Because it’s your kid.” Kyle Busch said these words at the beginning of 2025, just after his son achieved a golden milestone. Brexton Busch won the Golden Driller trophy at the Tulsa Shootout after his failure last year. Besides marking the 10-year-old’s victory, it also marked how united the Busch family is, as Brexton’s parents and sister were there to celebrate. Now, the young speedster is growing, and his family is growing with him.
He has come a long way since then, picking up championships like the Beginner Box Stock and winning 45 races in 2024 alone. So Kyle Busch’s son can only grow bigger from here, and a sponsor is here to push him farther.

And while Brexton is getting wins and making a name for himself, it doesn’t the parenting journey is easy. Talking about it with Denny Hamlin, Busch said, “I think a lot of it too is like, Brexton racing for, be glad you don’t have kids racing. Don’t. Not yet. Just don’t do it. think Brexton being a racer and racing, and my messages that I’m trying to deliver to him, I’m now taking more sense in of understanding, right? I can’t do something this way when I’m trying to teach him that way. So like, I need to do that, so it makes more sense that I’m living by my word, you know?”
As for Samantha Busch, she revealed an update on B-Rex’s racing. “So far he’s loving the testing. He turns 10 on the 18th so his first legend car will be on the 22nd at Hickory.”

Ready to pass the baton
It only seems like yesterday that Kyle Busch was the dazzling icon of the Cup Series. His iconic villain status fueled his popularity, as Rowdy would bow to the crowds and get booed, and then wipe his cheeks, indicating to those jeering him that they were crying. However, times have changed, as Denny Hamlin took over Busch’s villain status with his “I beat your favorite driver” line. Busch patted Hamlin on the back: “Way to go, buddy, way to go.” But while Busch passes the villainous baton to his rival, he is also preparing to pass his career’s baton to his own son. Father and son raced each other at Millbridge Speedway in March, with Kyle finishing 3rd and Brexton Busch finishing 6th.
This exposure of the father-son rivalry may be exciting, but it also shows that Kyle Busch is invested in mentoring his son. Denny Hamlin pointed that out in a recent ‘Actions Detrimental’ episode where Busch was a guest. “I think fans are seeing you — especially as a dad — for how you truly are. Sometimes, I thought when you were younger, your fiercest rival was yourself because you were so intense, that people would read that into that’s not really how Kyle is as a person, that’s who he is as a racer. That’s in the ring. You can do that when you do the things he does behind the wheel.”
