Who Deserves The NASCAR Number 88 Seat, Adam Sandler’s SNL Look Respark The Debate

Adam Sandler was spotted wearing a NASCAR number 88 cap on Saturday Night Live. The number is famously associated with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Adam Sandler’s number 88 cap during a recent Saturday Night Live shoot had a lot of social media users wondering, “who is he rooting for? Dale or Alex”. See the full Reddit thread here.

Currently, Alex Bowman drivers the number 88 car for Hendricks Motors. He is in his second season and has not been performing to the level of number 88. This made many people think that does he really deserve the legendary number.

However, Dale himself thinks that Alex is doing a fine job with the car. He said in an old interview, “I think from outside the car, he handled it really well”

“I felt like that Alex proved that if they can get the cars where they need to be that they got the right guy in the seat. I think that that was important for Alex because the car did struggle”

Dale Jr: The Original NASCAR number 88 driver

Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr. is an American semi-retired, pro stock vehicle racing driver. He is a team owner and an analyst for NASCAR on NBC. Additionally, Earnhardt contends part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro for his team JR Motorsports. He is the son of NASCAR Hall of Famer the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Earnhardt’s dominance at Daytona International Speedway through his professional career earned him the moniker “Pied Piper” of Daytona. He is a double-cross Daytona 500 champion, winning in 2004 and 2014.

He use to drive the No. 8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) during his initial Cup career. However, he moved to Hendrick Motorsports to drive the No. 88 in 2008. And that’s where he had his moment of glory. He stayed with HMS until his retirement as a full-time driver in 2017. Dale ended his run with 26 wins in the Cup Series, positioning him in the ‘Top 40’ in NASCAR all-time race wins list.

Recently, Dale was in the news for his frustration after being left out of the NASCAR’s Pro Invitation Series Race.
