Denny Hamlin is the final contender for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series. Although he hasn’t won a Cup championship like Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, Hamlin is no less talented. He proved it in spades this season when he bagged the second-most wins of the 2020 campaign.

He has notched up seven wins in the current season, behind Kevin Harvick’s nine. This potentially makes him out to be one of the favorites for the 2020 crown. Hamlin will be extremely fired up since he is one of two drivers to not win a Cup Series championship. The closest he ever got to the crown was when he finished second in 2010, behind Jimmie Johnson.

However, he has been in excellent form in the 2020 season, if his seven wins are any proof. When he finished 2nd in 2010, he had notched up eight wins during the season, and now history could repeat, hopefully with him walking away with the title.

Can Denny Hamlin get the monkey off his back?

In theory, he can definitely win the 2020 Cup Series championship. He has never finished outside the Top 20 this season, aside from Charlotte, Bristol, and the Martinsville regular-season race. Denny Hamlin has been supremely consistent all year round, and he will know in his heart that that elusive title is coming his way.

Coming to the #11 driver’s Phoenix track record, he has notched up two wins at the Phoenix Raceway. In other words, he should be in with a shout of the race win. At the very least, Denny Hamlin should finish the highest among the Championship 4 contenders.

Obviously, the likes of Logano, Keselowski, and Elliott will not make life easy for him. In addition to that, there will be non-championship 4 drivers who will try to get in the way. Nobody can really blame them, as they will want to end the year on a high note. However, Denny Hamlin must navigate through all obstacles and try to win.
