Helio Castroneves is arguably in the best form of his life at this moment. The Brazilian race car driver recently won the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona, a year after he won the same race which he then followed up by winning his record-equaling fourth Indianapolis 500.
And now, “the big fan” of racing has expressed his desire to compete in the prestigious Daytona 500.
In a recent interview, Castroneves revealed how he had “a great time” when he tried his hand at different forms of racing last year. This led him to consider the great American race as well – “Why not? Why not try Daytona 500?”

In fact, he revealed that he tried taking part in the race in 2021 as well. “I spoke with (Ray) Evernham and Tony Stewart, said, ‘Hey, find me a car and I’ll jump in! I’m sure a lot of people would like to see me.’ Who knows what’s going to happen? And they talked about it, but nothing, didn’t get traction,” he said.
“But I love to race. This is me. It’s been my entire life. I know it’s not easy. I understand everyone has your specialty.”

It remains to be seen whether Helio Castroneves can finally tick the Daytona box off of his bucket list this year. But one thing’s for sure, a driver of his caliber will definitely give the NASCAR drivers a good run for their money.
