The Great American Race, the Daytona 500, is right around the corner. And as if more reason was needed to tune into the prestigious race, there’s going to be an extra force of star power at Daytona Beach this Sunday in the form of Boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather.

Now, we already know that Mayweather is running his own team, aptly named, The Money Team Racing in this year’s Daytona. And the No. 50 Chevrolet will be driven by Kaz Grala.

Grala sensationally passed J.J Yeley on the final lap of the first qualifying race to book his spot in the four available “open” spots for Sunday’s 40-car lineup.

But despite the big result from qualification, team boss Floyd Mayweather wasn’t present at the Daytona International Speedway. Instead, he video called his team after they made it to Sunday’s race in their first attempt.

However, there’s a chance Mayweather will be in attendance on Sunday.

Because according to Grala, “the word on the street” is that his boss will attend the Daytona 500, and naturally add more to the star factor of the most star-studded event in all of the American motorsports.

Floyd Mayweather is “pumped up” about the Daytona 500

After the sensational qualifying result, Kaz Grala revealed how boss Floyd Mayweather was “so pumped up” about it. “He was ready, jacked up and really confident in us,” he said.

“That was a cool pep talk to get, not one that I’ve ever gotten before. Definitely a cool moment for us and having that validation that he’s excited about this program.”

It should be pointed out that The Money Team Racing only intends to have a partial schedule in 2022.

However, should they get a decent result this Sunday and in the rest of their fixtures this year, one can almost guarantee seeing Floyd Mayweather acquiring a charter soon, for which they’ll have a relatively smoother path.

It’s not as if finances are a problem for the owner of The Money Team.
