Ideally, you wouldn’t be wrong to assume that every single person in Hendrick Motorsports, especially in the #24 team of William Byron, was fuming after the checkered flag taken by Joey Logano at Darlington Raceway. But it isn’t an ideal world, and not everyone in the Byron camp shared the frustration.

Rudy Fugle, the crew chief of the youngest HMS driver, gave a pretty sensible interview that emitted calmness, which was strange because his driver was bumped out of the way from an almost sure race win.

“I wish we would have had a shot to race him clean there for a lap in the corner when he got to us, but he took a shot to the back of us, and that’s what happened,” Fugle said. “So we’ll move on.”

“At this point of the year, we just gotta move forward and keep bringing fast cars to the track and keep running upfront, more wins will come.”

William Byron didn’t mince his words about Joey Logano

William Byron, who was understandably upset after missing out on his third win of the season, didn’t filter his words for the Team Penske driver at all in a post-race interview.

“He’s just an idiot, I mean, he does this stuff all the time, I’ve seen it with other guys, I’ve seen it,” Byron said of Logano moments after the race ended. “He drove in there 10 miles an hour too fast, and with these Next Gen cars, he slammed me so hard, knocked the right side of the car, and no way to make the corner.”

William Byron called Joey Logano “a moron”, who can’t win a race in a legitimate way, so he does it the way he did.
