On a Twitter update by NASCAR on NBC, the video received a lot of views and likes, with one fan aptly stating that it looked “like a crossover of Mil Máscaras and Rey Mysterio’s mask

The #99 star paid the perfect salute to his country, and his fellow WWE superstars from south of the border, as a true trailblazer for the next generation of outstanding Mexican athletes, just like Rey Mysterio. Speaking of acrobatics, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, in the Ambetter Health 400, Daniel Suarez recorded an extremely acrobatic achievement as he clinched his second NCS victory in an iconic “Hollywood style,” three-wide finish, beating Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch by 0.003 seconds, deemed the second-closest finish ever in NASCAR history.

From the Fontana Pace Car to Grand Marshalling the Daytona 500

Suarez’s recent tribute to Rey Mysterio isn’t his first foray into professional wrestling. Back in 2019, Mysterio himself ended up driving the pace car in a five-wide salute from the Cup Series drivers at the Auto Club Speedway. This is where he shared the spotlight for the first time with Daniel Suarez in a hilarious announcement before Mysterio manned the white Toyota Camry at Fontana in March of that year.

Furthermore, this lighthearted collaboration served as the precursor to an emerging pattern coming into 2024 as NASCAR fans were treated to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Grand Marshal of the Daytona 500 season-opener. While P2 finisher at the historic Atlanta race and defending Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney made a surprise appearance, announced by Triple H himself, just a few days prior, wearing the WWE title on Friday Night SmackDown.

Nevertheless, Daniel Suarez’s theatrics did not bode all that bad as he moved up two spots to finish P13 under the Arizona sun at the Shriners Children’s 500.
