The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway picked up business after a relatively quiet and peaceful race. It all started with race leader Justin Allgaier shoving Leland Honeyman to stay in the lead with the race’s final stretch coming up. However, this wasn’t the first instance of drivers losing their cool, as with just 17 laps to go, a seventh caution flag was raised.

Kyle Weatherman driving the No. 91 car was spinning off the race track and it looked like Hailie Deegan was also involved in the wreck. However, after a second look at the whole scenario, it seemed like the contact on the 91 came from Sheldon Creed, resulting in multiple cars spinning on the racetrack.

Sheldon Creed running into trouble in Texas

Jumping ships from RCR to Joe Gibbs Racing hasn’t entirely been a game-changer for Creed. After a solid start at the superspeedway races with two consecutive top-five results, he has struggled to string up consistent performances. However, with two top-10 results in his last two starts at Texas, the No. 18 JGR driver was expected to deliver the goods, but he found himself tangled in wrecks and accidents.

Apart from a couple of close calls during stage 1, Creed didn’t make any gains and finished outside the top 10. He further fell down the pecking order, running outside the top 20 spots, until Justin Allgaier wrecked Leland Honeyman in the final stage. He potentially played spoiler to Ryan Sieg’s chances to win the race, igniting a caution.

After multiple disappointing outcomes at COTA and Richmond, a #6 finish at Martinsville looked to be the turning point for Creed in the season. However, this 19th-place finish suggests he still has a lot of work to do. Going by his style of racing, trying to bump and wreck other race car drivers, he certainly isn’t gaining any more fans from the racing community.
