“You Gotta Rough Some People Up” – Austin Hill Not Happy After his First Truck Win of the Season

Recently, Truck Series driver Austin Hill took his first win of the season, which vaulted him to third in the drivers’ championship. Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio about the win, Hill confessed that he learned to be more aggressive from a very young age.

He said, “You let people push you around then they are just going to push you around all the time. Sometimes you gotta rough some people up to get the respect that you deserve. Especially if they’re roughing you up.

“I’ve had to do that a few times, so I feel like I have the respect in the garage that I deserve.”

Austin Hill also insisted that he tries to impart the same amount of respect to his rivals on the track. And while he will be a little more careful in the early stages of the race, he will not back out if he is in a battle in the middle of a race.

He acknowledged that whatever happens will happen and that is how things will be, in order to win the truck races. In other words, during crunch time situations, drivers need to be bullish. Hill insisted that in certain scenarios, there comes a time when drivers need to be more aggressive. At the same time, they have to make the moves as cleanly as possible without wrecking each other.

Nevertheless, Hill is extremely happy to finally open his account and take his first win. Currently, he trails John Hunter Nemechek and Ben Rhodes in the championship. However, he is 10 points behind Rhodes and 95 behind championship leader Nemechek. With just one race left until the Playoffs, the competition will heat up immensely and the title fight will only grow fiercer.
