We are only a couple of weeks away from the unofficial start of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. Earlier, NASCAR unveiled an updated list of teams and drivers competing in the Busch Clash. According to reports, there are around 36 charter teams who have signed up for the Clash. However, the field will be whittled down to 23 cars for the main event.

First and foremost, Saturday will see all cars compete in a single car qualifying session. This will set the line-up for four heat races comprising of 25 laps each. The Top 4 drivers from each heat race will automatically earn a berth in the main event. Fortunately, the remaining 20 drivers need not fret, as there are two last chance qualifying sessions. Both sessions are 50 laps each and the Top 3 from each race will advance to the main event.

Admittedly, though there is a lot of excitement for the event, some have reservations. Most of the criticism stems from the small size of the race track. So, many expect a bit of carnage to take place at the race. Considering that these are also brand new cars, and spare parts and cars are limited, teams may try to take it easy.

However, with the release of this tentative list, there is another glaring problem. A large majority of the pack have not confirmed their title sponsors for the Clash and the upcoming season. Out of 36 cars, 14 of them are yet to announce a title sponsor, and time is running out. There are just two weeks left, and teams will have to scramble for sponsors.
