Revisiting the time when the former NASCAR driver and the first woman ever to win the IndyCar race, Danica Patrick revealed what one of the most iconic figures in Hollywood history, Paul Newman, had to say about her and her career in professional racing.

In the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the former Patrick talked about the time when she was a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman, alongside the Academy award-winning actor.

Joe Rogan on the podcast asked, “Are you surprised that more women aren’t entering in that you haven’t like sort of opened the door or do you think that it’s such a specialized and unique thing to do that it’s just not something that a lot of women gravitate towards?”

To which Patrick replied, “I used to say that for a hundred men that came through if you found a good you takes a hundred to find a good one, that comes pretty quickly, but to go through a hundred women takes a lot longer because there are some few of them. There are more coming through but I just think that you know over time it just takes a lot longer to find good ones but I don’t know.”

She also revealed, “I think back to, this is my ego talking. I think back to a long time ago when Paul Newman was still alive and we were on a late-night show together, probably Letterman.”

“He was asked before I went on, he was the first guest, if there was gonna be another driver, another girl that comes through that compares to me and he said he didn’t think so, maybe there won’t be, maybe there will be.”

After listening to this incident, Rogan said, “Paul Newman knew his sh*t. He knew his sh*t.”

Being a professional racer and the owner of open-wheel IndyCar racing. Newman was well aware of the sport and definitely had an opinion on Danica Patrick and her career in racing.

Danica Patrick is arguably the most successful woman in the history of professional American stock car racing. Back in 2005, she joined the IndyCar Series and won Rookie of the Year. Her victory at the 2008 Indy Japan 300 victory was quite remarkable.

In the male-dominated sport, Danica shifted to NASCAR in 2010. Making a mark here as well. She was the first woman ever to win the pole position at Daytona 500 back in 2013.
