The Lakers front office has built the team around the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Acquiring other star players to compliment their talismanic duo has been a successful approach for the franchise. One such acquisition was Malik Monk. A Lakers fan on Twitter noticed what Heat’s player, Bam Adebayo, did on Instagram after the game. Adebayo left a comment on Malik Monk’s celebratory Instagram post in the game’s aftermath. Monk captioned the post with, “Some of yall counted me out. Imma stay down though!” Adebayo left a comment on the post, which included only a middle finger emoji.

Adebayo’s comment could pass as banter and in jest as he and Monk played for the Kentucky Wildcats while in college. Monk and Adebayo parted ways as the Charlotte Hornets selected Monk as the eleventh overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. The Miami Heat drafted Adebayo in that season’s draft itself as the 14th overall pick. The Lakers signed Monk on a minor league deal in August 2021.
