The veteran point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, Damian Lillard, has again caught the headlines for pulling Dennis Schroder. On Sunday, a video from a friendly match between Germany and France went viral. It showed Schroder and Evan Fournier involved in a major brawl during the match. Though Schroder started it with the intention of tugging Fournier’s jersey, it got extended as Evan grabbed Schroder’s neck with both his hands. Even though it was a serious issue for the basketball community, Lillard mocked the incident as he shared a news story making a sarcastic remark about the Brooklyn Nets point guard.

While sharing the video of the brawl on his Instagram story, Damian made a humourous remark, “The flinch after running up got me dead man.” Apparently, the Bucks point guard was mocking the difference between Schroder’s intense walk and his actions. It was evident from the video that the 30-year-old German was not happy with Fournier. However, he hesitated a little before taking a major action. And that’s what Lillard went for.

Bilal Coulibaly and Fournier double-teamed Schroder during a fast break during the match. After that, Evan took the ball from the Nets PG. However, all of it just happened in the heat of the moment. After the brief scuffle, both the players were later caught reasoning with each other as they calmed them down.

Well, it is not the first time that Damian Lillard has taken a dig at the German basketball veteran for his actions. In September last year as well, he appeared to be questioning the credibility of Schroder’s accolade.

When Damian Lillard disparaged Dennis Schroder’s MVP achievement last year

The 30-year-old Dennis Schroder has been a great asset to his home team Germany, which won the FIBA World Cup last year. It was against Serbia that Germany won the final, however, on their way to the finals, they crushed the USA in the semis. Although Schroder was not part of the semi-final roster of Germany, he won the MVP title of the tournament. Lillard did not seem particularly amused about it.

At that juncture last year, the World Champions debate for the NBA players was in full swing when international sprinter Noah Lyles mocked NBA teams for their titles. Lillard also participated in that debate as he went on to say, “The NBA champs are world champs. I’ve been seeing everybody, coz they lost in the World Cup, like ‘we told you’. But, the best players in the world play in the NBA, all the best players in that tournament played in the NBA.”

It might not be a very well-received remark, but everyone has their point of view, and Lillard is entitled to his own. Do you think ‘NBA champs are world champs‘ was an acceptable remark? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
