Stephen Curry may not have won an NBA title, however, that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a champion. Celebs and former pros lined up at the American Century Championship. The course became a battlefield, each man playing for himself. Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, and even his father Dell Curry were some of the two-time MVP opponents. Yet, Curry wasn’t fazed. He won thrillingly and then went broke into celebration. But the wild run on the course wasn’t the end of his triumphant day. The Golden State Warriors superstar chose to adhere to a tradition that one legend saw as disrespectful.

Stephen Curry celebrates his ACC win in blockbuster style

The tournament came down to one last hole. All that Curry needed to salvage a win was an eagle. Anything else, and the cup would go to former tennis pro, Mardy Fish. Typically, most would have been brimming with nervousness. But not Curry. The four-time champion took the brave stroke, a 15-plus foot putt. Even before the ball went in, Stephen Curry deciphered destiny.

He threw his cap into the air, galloping into the stands. A victorious roar and rapturous applause from the crowd followed. Curry beat everyone, and had won the ACC Championship. He became the second basketball player to win the tournament. It didn’t take him long to celebrate the unique accolade.

Stephen Curry Celebrates Extravagantly

Now, after merely posing with the cup, he dove into an old tradition. Originally, it is reserved for the Claret Jug. Pros such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and more have upheld the custom. They use the British Open trophy as a cup of alcohol. As winners change, so does the choice of beverage. However, one of the all-time icons, Jack Niklaus, saw it to be “disrespectful”.

I know it’s the Claret Jug. But I always thought it was disrespectful to be drinking out of it”, he said.

Well, it didn’t matter to Curry. He was elated by what he had achieved. So he took to his Instagram stories to share a glimpse of how he used the ACC cup. An image of him sipping whiskey from the trophy is going viral from his Instagram stories. Fans are loving extravagant celebrations, and why not?
