Everything that could’ve gone wrong for the 76ers has gone wrong, and Joel Embiid has been in the thick of it throughout. From his conflicting declaration of not playing back-to-back games and claiming to do anything to be on the court to the locker room altercation to the Tyrese Maxey confrontation. For Embiid and the 76ers, it’s only doom and gloom. Everything is pointing at the glaring fact that Embiid just might have overstayed his course in Philadelphia. The team and the player have been held accountable for creating vitriol around the franchise and as things stand, accusations are only mounting.

The latest one came during an episode of Fan Duel TV’s Run It Back. DeMarcus Cousins appeared on the show to express his thoughts on the whole Joel Embiid situation, and he didn’t really have anything that’d make the Cameroonian happy. “I respect the young fellow. I respect any young fellow that can come in and not only challenge a veteran in a constructive way, but just to have the confidence to do so. But as far as handling that late situation, I blame the organization because you were unable to behave,” Boogie said. “So, I don’t want I don’t want the blame just to be on Joel when, you know, obviously, the behavior was enabled. But with that being said, I think Joel’s focus is in the wrong place. F**k who the rat is right now. Your team is struggling. Y’all look horrible this season.”

With all the negativity around, Cousins pleaded Embiid to ride the ship and be the leader. “Let’s get back to the foundation, which is playing basketball. Go lock in. Go win some games.”

After the leak from the players only meeting, Joel Embiid went scorched earth on the mole, labelling him as a “real piece of sh*t”. Amid all the turmoil, the Sixers have become a punching bag of the league. While there’s no end to their on-court worries, more dirty laundry is coming out in the open.

Misery piles on Joel Embiid and Sixers as Ben Simmons drama unfolds

Just like Joel Embiid, things haven’t been going too well for Ben Simmons. After his trade away from the franchise in 2022, the guard has returned to fitness this season, only to look like a shell of his past self. And now the two collided again after some well-kept secrets came out in public.

What’s your perspective on:

Has Joel Embiid's time in Philadelphia run its course, or can he still turn things around?

Have an interesting take?

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, Ben Simmons reached out to Joel Embiid last summer to mend fences. Simmons faced the wrath of the Philly crowd every time he returned to face them. Things went so haywire that Embiid wouldn’t even call Simmons by his name and addressed him by his number.

Surely Simmons isn’t getting back with his ex anytime soon. Tyrese Maxey has established himself as the leader of the pack in Embiid’s absence. Jared McCain is another bright spot in the dark who has already declared himself as the ‘Rookie of the year’. With a 1-6 record in the last 7, the only way for the 76ers is up. But when will the upward movement happen, that too in a barren Eastern Conference?
