Popular Hollywood actor Adam Sandler captivated the NBA world a few months ago with his new release. Titled ‘Hustle’, the film revolved around the life of an NBA scout played by Sandler himself. Interestingly, there were a huge number of NBA stars like Anthony Edwards, Kyle Lowry, and even legends like Kenny Smith and Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving.

Naturally, the film was very popular in basketball circles. It looks like an on-screen rivalry might come to life very soon.

Toronto Raptors star Juancho Hernangomez, and Edwards had a rivalry in the film. Fans might see that rivalry in the FIBA World Cup 2023 in the later stages of the tournament!

Anthony Edwards might meet his on-screen rival in the World Cup

The FIBA World Cup 2023 has taken off to a great start. A number of heavyweights like the United States of America, Spain, and Germany have already booked their places in the next round of games.

An interesting rivalry might come to life in the semis, considering the USA and Spain win their next round of matches. Fans saw ‘Kermit Wiltz’, better known as Anthony Edwards, face off against Spanish star Juancho Hernangomez in ‘Hustle’.

Hernangomez, who was the popular character ‘Bo Cruz’, went off against Edwards on multiple occasions in the film. Spain and the USA have already booked their place in the next round of games. Although they might not face off very soon, the semis might see a heavyweight clash between the two.

The United States will surely qualify as the winner of Group C and will be placed in Group J for the next round. On the other hand, Spain will qualify as the winners of Group G and will make their way into Group L.

If Spain ends up winning Group L again, they’ll face the runners up in Group K consisting of teams like Australia and Germany in the Quarter Finals. Similar to Spain, the USA will face the runners up of Group L and if they qualify as the Group J winners.

Considering Spain and the USA have a perfect record and they qualify for the Semi-Finals, fans will see Kermit Wiltz or Anthony Edwards take on Bo Cruz or Juancho Hernangomez!

Hernangomez once revealed an interesting story

Anthony Edwards is a highly competitive individual. The cast of ‘Hustle’ and Hernangomez found it out the hard way. Playing the villain to the Spaniard’s character, Edwards was supposed to be blocked during a shot.

Instead, he dunked so hard on Hernangomez, the ball almost broke! “Anthony [Edwards] tried to dunk on me so hard. He almost broke the ball”, revealed the Spanish basketball star during a conversation with Adam Sandler.

When Hernangomez told Anthony Edwards that he was supposed to block the shot, the Timberwolves youngster outrightly denied being blocked!
